Keykegs® by Famille Descombe - Wine on tap !

The 07/09/2021 - published by Vins Descombe

Everyone knows beer on tap, but do you know wine on tap ?

Instead of distributing via the bottle, wine is housed in recyclable kegs easy to use. Keykeg® allows a long conservation of wine while preserving its optimal quality.

A Keykeg® is :

  • An airtight and light-tight bag
  • A pressure vessel containing compressed air
  • A 2-way valve: one for the wine, the other for the air

Technically, when the bag is filled by one valve, the air escapes through the other. And conversely, when the wine is drawn through one valve, the air compresses the bag. This patented system allows a long conservation of a Keykeg® even when opened. It works exactly like a barrel pressure system but with a plastic container system that is much lighter than a steel barrel.

The benefits of Keykeg® for our customers :

  • Keeping the wine for a long time with a unique and modern system
  • Serving the wine by the glass directly from the Keykeg® while guaranteeing an optimal and long lasting quality
  • Participating for a positive ecological impact: once the keg is empty, it can be 100% recycled

If you have a restaurant, a wine bar, or a wine on tap project…

[PRESS] VITISPHERE : “A new dynamic for the family-owned negociant, Descombe !”

The 28/06/2021 - published by Vins Descombe

"Situated in the Beaujolais vineyards for a century, the family-owned negociant Vins Descombe is developing a winegrowing business while ensuring a positive impact on the environment.

For a few years, the company Vins Descombe is developing and modernizing.

Marine Descombe, the fifth generation describes this independent family business, established in the Beaujolais region since 1905 as "A historic domain which works like a start-up". Since she joined the company in 2013, at 23 years old, the young woman has wanted to give a "new dynamic" to the business accompanied with her brother and husband.

"Since 2017, we acquired vineyards," very attached to the Beaujolais vineyards, the company bought 32 hectares. Firstly they acquired The Château de Pougelon with Beaujolais Villages appellations and then parcels in Brouilly and Morgon crus. Marine describes the company as a "hybrid company”, with their vineyards and their negociant business.

"In the estate, there was nothing because everything was sold to the cooperative. So, we had to create a team and buy equipment" These acquisitions in the Beaujolais region were completed by the Domaine Passy le Clou with 30 hectares in Chablis, and 3 hectares in Saint Joseph, whose the first production is expected for next year. All the production of the estates is vinified on the premises and sold in bottles.

HEV, Organic and more

This company of thirty employees is ecologically conscious. "Our estates are HEV (High Environmental Value) certified and we will start their organic conversion next year," says Marine Descombe, who wants to continue to improve biodiversity by planting trees, hedges.

This new ecological dynamic concerns the entire production line : the house decided to eliminate the use of the varnished for its BIBs.  "We use kraft cardboard with water-based inks, which are more environmentally friendly," explains the young CEO. Supported by new marketing strategies to modernize the ranges, these changing were "very well received by customers".

Wine Enthusiast ratings

The 19/04/2019 - published by Vins Descombe

Saint Amour 2017 Florent Descombe:

“While the wine has all the bright red fruits you would expect from this  appellation, it also has a firmly tannic edge that will allow it to age. It is ripe with fruitiness and acidity to match”

Morgon 2017 Florent Descombe:

“From the famous Côte du Py vineyard, this wine has considerable structure. Its black fruits and rich tannins are typical of this granite terroir. The wine also has juicy red fruits that are developing and will come to dominate from 2019.”

Chablis 1er Cru Beauroy 2017 Domaine Passy le Clou:

“This wine comes from a small parcel of vines in this 75-acre estate. A touch of caramel fills out the rich palate and gives weight to the citrus and apple flavors and tight minerality. A young wine, it needs to age. Drink from 2020”
